Power Post Driver
Marchant Engineering has been manufacturing the Air Driven Power Post Driver in Australia since 1987, helping farmers and fencing contractors build long strained fences in record time. It will drive “T” posts through asphalt, shale, hard-packed road base, caliche, black soil surfaces as well as ironstone and sandstone.
This air tool has proven its worth in the harsh terrain of Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, UK and now the USA. In Texas it is the only hand held tool powerful enough to drive oil pipe into broken limestone, turning a job that took 4 hours per post into a job that takes 12 minutes per post.
It is performance like this and the Power Post Driver’s versatile size that has made it the perfect tool for a wide range of fencing projects, like temporary fencing for construction sites, putting in roadside sign posts on highway projects and security fencing for US Air Force bases in Afghanistan.
It is easily dismantled for servicing, if ever needed, or for just changing the striker.

One great thing about the Power Post Driver, unlike its competitors, it needs virtually no maintenance. Due to the fact there are no seals, gaskets or “O” rings inside the Driver, there is nothing to maintain. A simple, quick shot of WD-40 into the air valve below the handle (after every 2-3 hours of use) will dissipate any possible moisture in the cylinder caused by the compressed air.
NO EXTERNAL OIL NEEDED!
STRIKER- There is 1 striker in the box with the driver. A striker will fatigue between 5,000 to 15,000 posts depending on the type of ground and how the driver is used. Farmers will probably never need another striker while contractors will break them after continual use. It is advisable to always have a spare striker so you can continue to use the driver if you break a striker.
THE STRIKER ADAPTOR -The Striker Adaptor has a 25mm hole with 6 sets of grub screws to hold any tool you want to make up yourself. This could be a ramming bar, bead breaker, rock breaker, chisel, flat faced tamper for compacting mud brick and earthen walls etc. To use the Striker Adaptor, first remove the guide then unscrew the retaining nut and replace the striker with theStriker Adaptor. Do not replace the guide. Anti-seize grease needs to be used on the shank of the tool.
CHISELS - Chisels are 1150mm long and fit directly into the driver. Anti-seize grease MUST be used on the shank of the tool.
PICK - Picks are 1150mm long and fit directly into the driver. Anti-seize grease MUST be used on the shank of the tool.
BEAD BREAKER - 38mm long and fit directly into the driver. Anti-seize grease MUST be used on the shank of the tool.
GUIDE POST DRIVE KITS - Drive kits are available for Dura-Post, Ezy-Drive and Smart posts. Other sized drive kits can be made to your needs.
GUIDES - The standard guide supplied is 54mm.Additional guides are available from 56mm to 145mm bore.
